The Landing Apartments

This 12 unit apartment building was designed for a parcel of land that has remained unbuilt for over a century due to its topographical challenges.   This particular site is not only narrow, but also slopes 25 feet.  The solution included a skinny, yet efficient plan and a form that stepped down the hill.  Since the building is located on a busy, public street adjacent to downtown Parkville, the front facade is segmented, and modified by angling or recessing the units.    This not only creates more 7privacy from the street, but also the adjacent units.  Brick is used as the primary building material to tie the building in with the historic neighborhood, while wood accents and softens the walls of the balconies.
