This shed was designed to serve a husband and wife. It is divided in two spaces; the ‘he’ side serves as a garden shed and the ‘she’ side serves as a room housing a ceramic kiln for an artist. A post and beam method of construction was implemented in the design of this shed, which is more efficient form of construction, than a typical tilt up wall, because it utilizes less material. In addition, a unique board and batten cladding was hung from the beams. By definition, this type of cladding is a wood curtain wall. A major concept in this project was the idea of minimizing the amount of construction material utilized, this is why redundant methods of construction were forwent in lieu of a post and beam structure and a board and batten curtain wall.
